Who are we?
Formed in 1984, when the original village drama group closed, the Otley Players are a small amateur dramatic group in Suffolk, England. You will see from our previous productions page that we stage a wide variety of shows. We are a charitable organisation, having a small membership with a wide range of talents.
Our productions are staged in our local village hall. The stage here measures 5 metres wide by 3 metres deep with a maximum height in the wings of 2 metres. This, being a small acting area for plays of today, means that we require a stage extension. Until recently a mixture of staging and milk crates have been used to extend the stage an additional 5 metres wide by 4 metres deep into the village hall. This stage extension together with our raked seating makes for a perfect atmosphere for an audience of about 90 people.
We believe that the word "amateur" is only a sign of our unpaid status and this does not reflect the true standard of the shows we produce.
We are open to new members both on stage and back stage. If you would like to become involved, please email us at info@theotleyplayers.plus.com
